Dr. Darrian Davis grew up in Connecticut and moved to Florida in 2015 to attend the University of Tampa for undergraduate school, with the goal of pursuing a sports chiropractic career. After graduating from UT, he attended National University of Health Sciences where he received his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. Dr. Davis then expanded his scope of expertise by becoming a Certified Acupuncturist, to help patients treat symptoms of insomnia, anxiety, depression, hormonal imbalances, addiction and other various systemic dysfunctions. Dr. Davis has also obtained certifications in Active Release Technique, Class IV Laser therapy, and personal training under the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Dr. Davis competed competitively in baseball, basketball, and football for over 14 years, and he now enjoys spending his free time on the golf course. His passion for sports rehabilitation began while he was an athlete, battling various injuries. From then on, he knew he wanted to pursue a career where he could help others heal and recover, as he was able to do with the help of the medical staff he encountered throughout his athletic career. He started as an intern at Physical Chiropractic in 2017 and quickly worked his way up to a Registered Chiropractic Assistant under the wing of Dr. Rhee. He continued to learn from Dr. Rhee while completing his graduate studies, and has had the opportunity to work with athletes from various sports such as football, baseball, basketball, golf, track and field, volleyball, tennis, soccer, and wrestling, who compete at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels. Dr. Davis is now the Associate Chiropractic Physician in office and is in charge of the Sports Chiropractic Internship Program and daily operations for the clinic.

Hannah Franklin

Hannah grew up in central Florida. Upon graduating high school, she coached Cross Country and Track Camp Field for 3 years at Plant City High School. In addition, she got her Personal Training Certification and Group Fitness Certification with AFAA, Aerobics and Fitness Association. She is also certified in First Aid and CPR/AED. After coaching, Hannah worked for the Tampa Metropolitan YMCA as the Wellness Director, personal trainer, and group fitness instructor. Hannah taught numerous different classes varying from HIIT, boot camps, Enhance Fitness, small group trainings and weight loss programs. Hannah also trained numerous clients with different backgrounds by helping improve physical and mental wellbeing. Hannah has her AA in science from Hillsborough Community College and is set to graduate with her bachelor’s in health science from the University of South Florida in the fall of 2023.

Sports Chiropractic Internship Program

Open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors, Physical Chiropractic of Tampa Bay offers an internship program that prepares health-oriented college students for a career in the healthcare industry. The program mainly focuses on sports chiropractic care, as well as the musculoskeletal anatomy. This is a great opportunity to work under former Team Chiropractor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while improving anatomy skillset through hands-on experience with patients. 

Successful completion of the program allows for exceling in the clinical/practical portion of graduate studies. Previous interns have branched into a variety of professions including: MD, DO, PT, DC, podiatrist, PA, and ATC.

Learning Objectives: Gain and demonstrate proficient knowledge in anatomy and bio-mechanics, as it relates to chiropractic care (Musculoskeletal Anatomy), motion of joints, types of bones, types of muscles, O-I-A (Origin, Insertion, Action), exercises, biomechanics, bedside manner, subjective versus objective findings, common sports injuries, multitasking with time management in a fast-paced medical environment, and general HIPPA compliance. 

Learning Opportunities: Treating patients with Electrical Muscular Stimulation (E. Stim / Electrodes), Ultrasound, Class IV Laser Therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy, Intersegmental Traction, PiezoWave Shockwave Therapy, Hydrotherapy, and Winback Therapy. 

Duties:

  • Support chiropractic care delivery by preparing treatment area (cleaning tables, preparing equipment & materials, understanding how to read the schedule in depth to plan for upcoming patients, etc.)

  • Performs procedures under the close supervision of a licensed Chiropractic Doctor

  • General office upkeep, as needed, keeping a safe & clean work environment at all times

  • Determining inventory levels and anticipating needed supplies

Qualifications: Strong interest in becoming a doctor, preferably a Doctor of Chiropractic. Sports-oriented; previous experience with playing sports or strong interest in sports. Flexible Schedule. Great time management skills. Punctual. Proactive. Great listener. Eager to learn!
